Goerges Seurat's work appeals to the mathematician in me. There's order, clean lines and color, all of which mask the millions of pointillistic brush strokes from afar. Those tiny dots of atom-like intensity unite on the canvas. I can only imagine the days and evenings spent creating this masterpiece. I loved this painting from the moment I first saw it in a book as a second grader and was excited to see it's real form at the Art Institute of Chicago. Apparently, many people had made the same pilgrimage. The park was getting a little crowded ;)
